Kajal B (pronounced Ka-Jill)

Beautiful, charismatic, entrepreneurial, passionate

It is said, “Beauty is power, a smile is it’s sword” and this bright South African has one of the most beautiful smiles to have graced South Africa’s screens.

Kajal has become a class act on South African television with her presence and talent. Having landed two sought after roles on our top soapies playing Asha in 7de Laan (Sabc2) and more recently Devina on Isidingo (Sabc3) her career in the entertainment industry in undoubtedly headed for great heights.

A creative soul who also happened to have a keen interest in numbers. After completing her Bcom Honours in Accounting she decided to pursue her passion in the world of performing arts. Her love for the performing arts began as a young shy girl who is now meticulously trained in the north Indian classical dance style, Kathak, with training in SA, India and the UK. But she didn’t stop there, True to her multi faceted style as a performer, she is also accomplished in modern, Bollywood, and Indian folk styles with a hint of contemporary.

Bombay crush, the west end styled Bollywood musical produced by Anant Singh Videovision and Sun International was the turning point for Kajal. With her professionalism, passion and talent she bagged the role of the lead actress starring opposite Indian TV star Gaurav Chopra. The show ran for over 2 months and enthralled audiences.

She then went on to star in several theatre productions, both drama’s and musicals and was a regular actor for Lotus Fm’s radio drama’s. She was nominated for best new comer in 2007 in the KZN dance-link awards.

Over the years she has worked with the likes of Caroline Smart, Themi Venturas, Flatfoot dance company, Ronnie Govender, Jay Pather, Mark Hawkins, Tarun Tahiliani, Christa Schamburger, Gavin Rajah to name a few.

Looking for new challenges, Kajal entered the world of television presenting, first with Dharma moments (sabc2) Her presence on screen was certainly noticed as she was then selected as a finalist in the very first Top Billing presenter search and soon after successfully joined the Eastern Mosaic team as their new vivacious roving presenter from 2008-2013. She left to focus on new presenting and acting avenues.

With Kajal’s bubbly personality, she was the red carpet presenter as well as a performer for the SAIFTA’s launched in Durban (The South Africa India Film and Television Awards)

She has a deep love for film, having a few big screen acting credits to her name. “Jozi” directed by Craig Friemond, “For Better for Worse” (Brightside productions) and “Echo Beach” (Shadowy Meadows)

Kajal has quickly become a popular face and soon we will see her passion for film and television take our starlet behind the camera as she wears the producer’s hat with innovative projects in the pipeline.

Being a committed individual when it comes to the development and nurturing of the arts she was the National Treasurer for PANSA (the Performing Arts Network of South Africa) & currently a board member and treasurer of Catalina Unlimited.

She may be described as energetic, witty and stylish, but Kajal is also an ardent animal lover who enjoys spending time with her family and friends, globe-trotting, fashion and is a self confessed foodie.
