Farewell Tata!

mandela

“No one is born hating another person because of the colour of his skin, or his background, or his religion. People must learn to hate, and if they can learn to hate, they can be taught to love, for love comes more naturally to the human heart than its opposite.” Nelson Mandela

The father of our nation is finally free. I feel heartbroken but also privileged and blessed to have lived and learned in the time of Nelson Mandela.

The world is a lesser place without you, but your legacy will live on and you will always be in our hearts.

Thank you for your courage and unconditional love.

Our Hero.

RIP Madiba (1918-2013)

Be One In A Thousand! Kerr House – The Durban Hospice For Woman

Kerr House is a safe haven for abused and destitute women in the Durban area. Kajal became aware of them and their plight to help women that are in need at the right time; the celebration of their 60th birthday and in the month of women.

After months of meticulous preparation, organizing and strong effort from The Oysterbox Hotel, Kerr House and Kajal, a high-tea was hosted in honour and acknowledgement of the work that Kerr House puts into strengthening our most precious resource – our women.

We were lucky enough to catch Jailoshni Naidoo, a local actress, Mary Papayya the CEO of AVUSA Media and Anne Dreyer from Colourworks International enjoying sweet treats and speaking about the importance of woman in the home, at work and in society.

Each attendant received luxurious gifting and indulgent spoils from Elizabeth Arden, Yuvati Shah and Leigh Shubert.

The opulent high tea was a resounding success and raked in an astounding amount of R40 000.

PACT – Phoenix Animal Care & Treatment

This year Kajal will be supporting PACT with another event, we will keep you posted!

This organisation began with three friends who had had enough of feeling helpless against animal neglect and abuse. Our idea was born out of a need for animal care in the Phoenix area. We believe the time is NOW to act and change the lives of these poor animals.

As a result, Phoenix Animal Care & Treatment (P.A.C.T) was established in March 2012 as a non profit organisation dedicated to providing care and medical treatment for animals in the Phoenix area. The founding members of this organisation have been independently involved with animal rescue for many years. All members are from Phoenix and bring together a wealth of experience within the community. As a non-profit organisation our time and efforts are voluntary with a reliance on fundraising and donations to achieve our objectives.

How you can help?

Being in operation for just under a year now, P.A.C.T has had to take in a number of cases. We do not ever give up on an animal, however veterinary fees have to be covered and funds have been severely depleted.

In order to continue, we need funds. Our current vet bills are in the thousands, and if we do not cover these costs, we will be unable to continue.

In addition we need sponsors for food, raffle prizes, general pet care requirements such as flea and tick treatment, and so forth. We would like the community at large as well as major companies within the community to get involved at this level.

If you would like us to help us achieve our goals and provide a better quality of life for the animals in Phoenix, please contact us on the details provided herewith. If we all stand together we can make a difference.
